BABCOCK RANCH, Fla. (Nov. 26, 2025) — Calling Scouting America “one of the most effective youth leadership programs in the country,” Allen Spence criticized the Trump administration for cutting support and vowed to defend youth programs that strengthen Southwest Florida communities.
ALLEN SPENCE: As a Scout leader for three years — and as a dad whose son grew up in the program — I’ve seen how Scouting shapes young people into responsible, service-minded leaders.
I have seen first-hand over and over that Scouting America produces young men and young women who are prepared for life.
That’s why I strongly oppose the Trump Administration’s decision to cut support to Scouting America. Here in Southwest Florida, we know Scouting builds discipline, resilience and character. That’s not political. It’s leadership.
Scouting doesn’t weaken our values by being inclusive. It strengthens them by preparing all kids to serve their communities and their country.
Instead of abandoning youth programs that work, we should be investing in them. When I’m in Congress, I’ll fight to protect scouting and every program that helps our kids grow into tomorrow’s leaders.
