SOUTHWEST FLORIDA (April 29, 2026) — Congressional candidate Allen Spence condemned Wednesday’s proposed gerrymandering of Florida’s congressional map while reaffirming his campaign for Congress in the newly proposed 17th Congressional District.
CONGRESSIONAL CANDIDATE ALLEN SPENCE: In 2010, Florida voters spoke clearly when 63% approved the Fair Districts Amendments to ban partisan gerrymandering. Those constitutional protections do not disappear because they are politically inconvenient. No governor or legislature gets to erase the will of the people.
I will continue my campaign in the proposed District 17, which includes parts of Sarasota, Port Charlotte and Fort Myers.
As a resident of Charlotte County and a lifelong Floridian, this district includes communities I know well and care deeply about. Fort Myers helped shape who I am — I graduated high school there in 2001 — and I’m honored by the chance to earn the opportunity to represent the people of Sarasota, Charlotte and Lee counties.
Voters deserve fair maps, competitive elections and leaders focused on lowering costs, restoring trust in government and delivering results for working families, not fighting over pronouns or re-naming the ocean after Trump.
I will expand our campaign into every corner of the new district immediately. Join us at Spence2026.com.
